Our history

With a bold idea Ken started his printing business from his garage in 1989. Shortly after in 1990 he hired his first employee to help as his small business started to grow. As the business was thriving Ken wanted to maintain family values and started the tradition of stopping every morning at 10am for morning tea, a tradition he has carried for over 32 years.

As the business progressed it was time to upgrade from the garage, so CMP made its first big move to Leighton Pl in Hornsby. After three years of thriving at Hornsby, CMP had outgrown the facility and in 1994 moved to Unit 7, Lower Gibbs St Chatswood.

In 2004, Benn joined the business working in the folding and binding department. This would give him valuable knowledge of process and production setting him up for a broader role in years to come.

As the business continued to grow, and CMP needed more space the next move was to acquire Unit 14, Lower Gibbs St. With a larger facility and a higher demand, the first sales representative was hired.

2007 saw Bruno Kuhar joining CMP as a partner alongside Ken and Benn. Bruno quickly made an impact with his years of experience in the printing industry and his skills to match.

In 2008 the introduction of their first digital Indigo machine. 2012 was a year of many first for CMP. An expansion into Unit 11 which was home to their first Wide Format and Packaging offering. This helped to revolutionise CMP and allowed them to increase a loyal customer base.

2012 also saw the introduction of their first internal design team that saw them go above and beyond for their clients. 2013, Unit 12 was acquired as Wide Format continued to grow.

In 2014 Ken, Benn and Bruno took all the staff to Fiji to thank them for all their support and acknowledging how far the business had come.

As the business was growing and the demand for our services continued to increase CMP opened its door to 24hr production.

In 2017 CMP brings in a 10-colour press and in 2018 CMP installs two Swiss Q print LED machines bolstering our Wide Format offering. As the business continued to thrive, the acquisition of Unit 10 gave them space for this growth.

In 2019 CMP introduced Industrial Design as a service which enabled our customers to tap into a resource that would benefit them in designing amazing point of sale products.

While 2020 saw us face new challenges CMP innovated utilising their offering and pivoting into new markets. From Build a Desk to Fan in the Stand we navigated these times and came through the other end.

Covid also saw us introduce Roll Label to our offering. With a lot of hard work and dedicated staff this has grown in a short period of time to be a very important part of the business.

In 2021 we celebrated the accomplishments of our fellow CMP team members with the introduction of a Staff Recognition Program. This program acknowledges those who have dedicated their working career over many years supporting CMP.

Kicking off 2022 with a bang the installation of their new Heidelberg 6 colour offset press which sets the tone for a big year ahead. Coupled with this a new brand identity it is sure to be a big year ahead.

From Ken, Benn, Bruno and the CMP team we are very excited to continue our journey with you.
